About
Ayana Gibbs is a Guyanese-Bajan-British psychiatrist, researcher and author.

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist, researcher and founder working at the intersection of neurodiversity and hormone health.
Born in Guyana, raised in Barbados and trained in the United Kingdom, my work is shaped by a commitment to advancing understanding of neurodiversity and expanding access to evidence-based support.

My clinical, research and public engagement work explores how ADHD, autism, hormones, culture and identity shape mental health and wellbeing across the lifespan.

Over the course of my career, I have worked across clinical psychiatry, academia and the pharmaceutical industry, bringing together insights from each to inform a more holistic approach to mental health care.
I am Founder and Medical Director of Caribbean Mind & Hormone Clinic (See Website), a service developed to improve access to specialist neurodiversity, hormone and mental health support across the Caribbean.

I am co-author, with Stephanie Ozuo, of the forthcoming book Understanding ADHD in Black Women: The Palette Within (Jessica Kingsley Publishers), which explores the experiences, strengths and challenges of Black women with ADHD through the lens of research, clinical practice and lived experience.
